Te Kauwhata 10 Jul

Saturday Cruise with Ole. 7 riders on a crisp clear morning met at the Papakura Service Centre for a 10am departure. Damn that place was crowded today, lots of groups all planning to make the most of the sunshine, getting out of the big smoke and seeing some more of our beautiful country. We left a little after 10, thanks to yet another late arrival.

Down the Southern Motorway for a couple of Kms, exiting at Drury, up the Old Great South Road, we took a wee detour to check if Sig Falkenhaug was at home. Sadly the gates were closed. We tooted as we rode past. We took Paparata Road, on to Lyons Road, through Mangatawhiri then back down towards Mercer on Koheroa Road. Back onto the motorway until we exited at Hampton Downs, along Springhill Road, we crossed over the motorway onto Summertime Road. This took us into Te Kauwhata, the Bakehouse Cafe was where we stopped for a break and a kai. Great pies and coffee were on the menu, not to mention friendly efficient service.

After our break, we got back on our bikes and headed along Waierenga Road, Falls Road and Island Block Road. We had a quick regroup to take a consensus of the preferred after match fare, hmmmm, coffee or icecream, a tricky choice in the summer, not so much in the winter. 3 of us stopped at a newish cafe in Pokeno for coffee and yet another chinwag. Lots of BS shared today as always.
