Tony Kay led the longer ride to Whangamatā via Island Block and Tahuna Roads, with a rest stop in Paeroa, and then back roads south and east of Waihi to our destination. The weather was lovely apart from being a little bit windy.
We went down to the beach after lunch to see the swell. It wasn't as impressive as we had expected, but there was a lot of sand blowing along the beach.
We came back over the Kopu Hill, and I left the group at Waitakaruru. Good day out, and I did almost 400 km.
--Report from Charlie Tee
It was two ride Tuesday today, I believe 7 riders went on the long ride to Whangamata led by Tony Kay. I went on the short one that ended up not quite so short. Our RIC was Mike Dodge. He took us over some familiar and not so familiar south Waikato roads for lunch at one of our favorites the Native Tree Cafe. After lunch we all headed home up the main road. It was a very good ride on a cool and windy day. Thanks to Mike Dodge RIC and TEC Ole Falkenhaug.
