Nikau Caves 19 Mar

Nine riders today. It was drizzling persistently; not wet enough for me to put on wet weather gear, but after a while the road surfaces were quite wet and we rode with appropriate caution.

Sig Falkenhaug took us first to Te Aroaroa - The Long Pathway Park, next to the Huntly Power Station, where we looked at a couple of sculptures, then on to Nikau Caves Cafe for lunch. As we arrived at the cafe, the drizzle finally cleared.

After lunch, two riders took the gravel road to Port Waikato. The 13km of gravel on the Port Waikato Rd was in reasonable condition apart from some corregations on some up hill corners.

The rest of us went back via Highway 22.
