Mercer 14 Jan

Sixteen people on fifteen bikes today, including an English couple who've spent a couple of months riding around New Zealand, and who have been most impressed by the friendliness of Auckland Ulyssians. We also had a couple of people who came to socialise.

Tony Kay led us on a roundabout route towards Gordonton. It started to rain, and the rain became persistent, so we pulled over at the corner of Highway 22 and Glen Murray Road to put on wet weather gear. We decided from here we would go directly to the cafe. However, when we got to Glen Murray several people decided they'd had enough of riding in the rain, so we abandoned our plan of going to Gordonton and headed for Mercer instead. After lunch, the rain had stopped and we made our own way back. I caught a bit more rain on my ride home.
